Scrapbook – YouTube.  Jay Bachemin, Broadway Photography

A young English woman, Julia Chatfield, brought the scrapbook in question to Ohio in 1845.   Gabrielle Fox’s restoration work on the centerpiece and binding of this scrapbook housed in the archives of the Ursulines of Brown County (Ohio), the convent founded by Chatfield, is outstanding.  If the craft and artistry exhibited in the original is more than outstanding, it is then a reminder that the book art of the 21st century has its traditions.
