    Such a great insight into the “hands” that made the book – thank you for sharing this – it is so beautiful. And a question: do you know what were the threads made of and what was used to colour them?

      We would have to ask Oosterman or Kwakkel — as I would be guessing, too, other than that the repair occurred some time after the inscription.

        Thanks for taking this trouble! The work looks like simple needleweaving…maybe with linen fibres? . Colours: Several options…depends on when it was done as you said. Plus whether the maker mixed dyes/pigments or used them straight, It looks in such good shape and the work is expert…
